A UK company is completing a consortium to apply for the Horizon 2020 European Green, Area 5 - Sustainable and Smart Mobility. Call: LC-GD-5-1-2020 Green Airports & Ports as multimodal hubs for sustainable and smart mobility.

Their aim is to focus on the virtual elimination of airport GHG through the development and implementation of specific and unique ground vehicles powered by hydrogen/electric motors, with full autonomous operating capability in a variety of roles. For example, aircraft tug vehicles where hydrogen based power delivers H2O emissions only, but importantly, the tug will deliver aircraft with engines off, from terminal direct to runway threshold before starting engines - and collecting an aircraft after landing, then with engines off, the aircraft is taken to the Terminal ramp.

They are seeking partners with a range of expertise, including in pollution mitigation including airports both ground activities and flight activities - with knowledge of current and future alternative energy sources other than polluting / carbon based fuels.

In addition they are seeking partners with expertise in specialist vehicle design, development and prototyping - who are able to actively collaborate with other organisations within hydrogen fuel cell energy and autonomous vehicle development. (Vehicles involved include airfield and related activities).

Finally they are seeking partners with expertise in hybrid hydrogen/electric power for specialist vehicles and software developments for installation in specialist semi-autonomous / fully autonomous vehicles for a mix of vehicle types operating within airport (and possibly other ) environments.

They are seeking these partners via research cooperation agreement.
