This project proposal aims to promote new care models for people with disabilities, particularly in rural areas. Led by social economy organizations, research institutes and technological companies in collaboration with public administrations, it fosters independent living and community-based support services in rural areas, with a focus on older adults and people with disabilities who wish to continue living at home.
This project builds on the community-based model of La Bassa, aiming to scale and adapt it to rural areas in order to promote the autonomy of people with disabilities and the elderly, while also valuing the knowledge and contributions of informal caregivers. At its core, the project establishes social innovation hubs—such as La Bassa—to deliver essential proximity services: day centres, home care, assistive equipment lending, preventive health services, accessibility to cultural and community activities and logistical support. These hubs integrate technology to strengthen both human development and territorial cohesion.
