L'Iniziativa Tecnologica Congiunta denominata Biobased Industries (BBI) ha ricevuto complessivamente 229 proposte progettuali di ricerca e innovazione in risposta al bando 2020.

Le proste presentate hanno richiesto un finanziamento complessivo di 1.1 miliardi di euro, mentre il budget indicativo del bando è di 102 milioni di euro.

Di seguito le proposte presentate suddivise per i 16 topic della call::

  • Use enabling technologies to improve feedstock availability and sustainability for the bio-based industry  - 10 proposte
  • Develop integral fractionation of lignocellulose to produce components for high-value applications - 21 proposte
  • Develop bio-based solutions to recycle composites -16 proposte
  • Extract bioactive compounds from new, under-exploited and/or recalcitrant residual bio-based streams for high-value applications - 45 proposte
  • Improve the sustainability of coatings - 31 proposte 
  • Resolve supply-chain hurdles for turning residual waste streams into functional molecules for food and/or non-food market applications - 16 proposte 
  • Use biogenic gaseous carbon to increase feedstock availability for the industry - 9 proposte
  • Upscale the production of bio-based platform molecules for larger market applications - 8 proposte
  • Demonstrate superior bio-based packaging solutions with minimal environmental damage - 16 proposte 
  • Valorise the organic fraction of municipal solid waste through an integrated biorefinery at commercial level - 4 proposte 
  • Turn lignin into materials and chemicals for high-end applications - 4 proposte
  • Produce food ingredients with high nutritional value from aquatic sources - 11 proposte 
  • Help start-ups and spin-offs to gain access to finance - 13 proposte
  • Provide insight on emerging technologies for bio-based value chains - 13 proposte
  • Create and interlink bio-based education centres to meet industry’s needs of skills and competences - 10 proposte
  • Expand circular economy to include the underexploited circular bioeconomy - 2 proposte

 La valutazione delle proposte di progetto avrà luogo tra settembre e novembre 2020 e i risultati del bando saranno resi noti al più tardi entro gennaio 2021.
