Clean Sky 2 è un partenariato pubblico-privato creato al fine di effettuare un cambio di passo significativo per quanto riguarda l’impatto ambientale del trasporto aereo. Rappresenta il programma più ambizioso mai lanciato sulla ricerca aeronautica in Europa. La sua missione è quella di sviluppare tecnologie innovative per aumentare in modo significativo le prestazioni ambientali degli aeromobili e del trasporto aereo. Inoltre mira ad ccelerare gli sviluppi tecnologici innovativi e ridurre i tempi di commercializzazione di nuove soluzioni testate su dimostratori in scala reale.
